About that what you heard -
If you meet 168cm male korean and ask his height, he will tell you he´s 178cm tall.
If you´ll meet gay Korean and ask him if he has girlfriend, he will say yes, although he has boyfriend.
I´m not saying Koreans are unnecesarilly liers, they more like hide, becouse as a nation they have some tabus or ideals and try to look according to them. And being openly gay can be prety dangerous in Korea!!
