Shakira’s performance on “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC TV on Oct. 13 featured Korean traditional dancers in hanbok playing drums. The megastar appeared again with the Korean traditional dancers on NBC TV’s “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 18, singing her new song “Did It Again.”

The dancers belong to a troupe led by the eldest daughter of a Korean traditional dancer based in the U.S., Ko Sue-hee. Ko moved to the U.S. in 1981 and has been running Ko’s Korean Traditional Dance Institute in Los Angeles.

“I heard that Shakira was researching traditional drum performances of different countries for the choreography for her new song, and picked Korea’s Three Drum Dance. A staffer at the acting school my daughter is attending was a close acquaintance of Shakira’s choreographer Hi Hat, so we got the request,” said Ko.

The troupe also took part in the shooting of the “Did It Again” music video, which will be released this week, and will accompany Shakira to her performance in London next month, according to a press report.

Shakira is often dubbed as the queen of Latino music and recently released her new album “She Wolf” after four years of silence.
