Fans have been craving for new work from Taiwan singer-songwriter Deserts Chang after her album Oh, dear. dear. I haven't. in 2007. In the following year, she only released a limited edition charity single Love, New Year for the holidays. Now, the long-awaited third album Cheng Shi is finally released in May 2009. This is the first one she does with her band Algae (guitarist Cent, bassist Sunho, and drummer Goodtone) formed last year. While Deserts has charmed listeners with her 70s folk rock style acoustic guitar and a light and transparent voice reminiscent of Faye Wong, the new album promises some new sound. Dedicated to life in the city, Cheng Shi features 10 songs including Beautiful Woman and the rearranged version of Selling with Chinese lyrics.
