The Wonder Girls appeared on Radio Disney’s “music mailbag” on Aughust 1st at 11:00am. I may have said some things about JYP in my last post… and I do stand by them. However, if he continues to increase their image with this type of promotion he is on the right track.
There was a recent comment on my last post by the author of Saranghae Kpop that stated “they should write some more songs ( not the Korean ones) for the American audience. I love the Wonder Girls Korean music but i definitely don’t want to hear an English version of so hot.” That statement completely hit the nail on the head. Instead of hearing the same English version of their Korean pop hits, they need something fresh and new that will wake up America (and Canada) and take them by surprise.
Getting on Disney is a fantastic start. How many other mega stars in the US started on Disney? Lets do a small list…
- Christina Aguilara
- Miley Cyrus
- Justin Timberlake
- Britney Spears
- Ryan Gosling
- Shia LaBeouf
- Kurt Russel
- JC Chasez (not so much famous anymore…)
There are more, much more than what I have listed here. If the wonder girls are going to get played in the United States, this is a good start. With a 99% vote to “pick it” I would say that the people have been heard. Of course without websites like allkpop and the many other blogs, websites, and tweeters alike it may not have ended up in such a landslide.
Perhaps we should all write a petition to get them some airtime on MTV. Us Canadian fans will try for Much Music…
