I have tremendous respect of Drunken Tiger and Tasha Reid (I am a huge fan of hers) and other Rap and Hip-hop artists but at the same time I love generic Pop/ hip-hop bands like Big Bang, 2NE1, B2ST…etc…
GD and T.O.P are no rappers and less talented than Tiger JK because they don’t do hardcore rap…is of course objectionable. Their music is just a variations of Rap music infused in popular music culture. Even Tiger JK does it…it’s only that his style and rhythm of rap is different than those of the kids. Some like this and some like that.

You don’t have to listen to Big Bang because they carter to different genre of music lovers. Take the example of Rock music, different genres of it is mind blowing. People who listen to Heavy metal need not diss listeners of Punk rock and vice-vera…

Nice way to take an unnecessary jab at pop music on a POP MUSIC website. Any music fan with a decent ear would not mistake GD for rap. That would be like saying Rihanna is a hip-hop artist. I came here expecting a reasonable synopsis of the history of rap and hip-hop in east Asia. Instead, I got an unwarranted attack on mainstream music. Why discredit yourself by making personal attacks against artists you don’t like?

I came across Tiger JK via his wife Tasha – she’s got to be one of the best female rappers I have heard in a long time. She is definitely overlooked.

Those groups that you mentioned I believe use rap as a gimmick and most of them sell more sex than skill.

I am relieved to see credibility in Asian Hip Hop but it is a pity that I had to filter through the Foie Gras.
