I've worked at a couple different offices in Seoul and it's the same. Plus I've shared stories with my Korean friends here and they've all had similar stories from their companies. It's just the way it is in Korean company culture. Needles to say, I'm very thankful to be working at a multinational company now... It’s mostly a culture thing, I believe.
