Crystal Kay Teams Up With BoA for “Girlfriend”!
-

Crystal Kay & BoA
Early this year, BoA featured Crystal Kay in her single, this time it will be the other way around, both Korean/Japanese pop singers will be collaborating again for Crystal Kay’s upcoming single called “Girlfriend”.
For those of you who don’t know who Crystal Kay is, She is a Japanese singer, started in 1999 – present. She was born and raised in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.Born to an African American father who was a bassist from new Jersey and a third-generation Zainichi Korean mother who was also a professional singer.
For those of you who don’t know what a Zainichi Korean is, people who are Korean (Korean ethnics) residents of Japan.
I happen to like Crystal Kay’s music and I know that this new song will give their fans just what they are looking for… good music. Crystal Kay gives her audience originality and creativity… that is hard to come by nowadays since most Kpop and Jpop artists keep recycling the same sounds and the same looks. It is good to see someone do something original.
Are there any other great Korean pop stars who sing Jpop? Check out M-Flo’s vocal talent aptly named “Vocal”. You should remember M-Flo from their song with BoA called “The Love Bug”.
Here is a short description of Crystal Kay from Mimu-net.net:
10 years ago, the young singer made her debut with a song called Eternal Memories. Then, she gradually became a major artist on the Japanese Urban-Pop scene thanks to numerous hits, among which her collaborations with Chemistry and m-flo. Her best performance in the Oricon charts was made in 2005 with single Koi no Ochitara, with about 290 000 copies sold.
She has interpreted several songs for movies and dramas, like Kitto Eien Ni (Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo suru), Konna ni Chikaku de… (Nodame Cantabile) or, more recently, One (Pokemon 11). And more theme songs are coming : her next single,Girlfriend, featuring her great friend BoA, will be the soundtrack of movie He’s Just Not That Into You, expected in Japan on August 1. An extract of the song is available on Crystal Kay‘s official website (and full song on YouTube)
Crystal Kay will take part in the next J-Wave Live 2000+9, which takes place August 14-16 at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tôkyô, as well as eighteen leading Japanese artists (Koda Kumi, Ken Hirai, Remioromen, Kaela Kimura and many more – complete list on the festival’s official website)
