Wonder Girls

Call it what you will, but I am cheering for them none the less. The Wonder Girls almost opened for the Jonas Brothers last night in Kansas City… and that is a good thing. Here is what bothers me about it. They were only able to play one song and nothing else. Now, I am not trying to put down those hard working girls because I do want them to succeed in the US. However, with only 1 song played… “nobody but nobody” will remember them.

Here is what I think JYP should do… not that he is reading this. First, he needs to get them airtime on MTV in the States and Much Music up here in Canada. I am talking about throwing a lot of money at them until they give in and play their music. Once they get some video time, they will most certainly get radio time as a result. All of the teeny-boppers will go nuts for them and you will here them about 300 times a day like you do any other pop song in North America.

Next Step, he should get them on American Idol as a guest performer. I am sure that JYP has connections. I am talking about some real exposure. Lets face it, Wendy Williams does not have massive ratings and 1 song at a concert will not cut it in the cut throat US market.

If the Wonder Girls are going to make it they need to give it a better go.

To quote KCTV5 reporter on a recent news article, “The group is a top-selling artist in Asia and trying to make a name in the U.S. They performed their single “Nobody,” which sounds a lot like the Pussycat Dolls. With such a short time on stage, it’s tough to see if anyone will remember the act.”

I think that they can really take the US by storm if they just went about it correctly. What JYP really needs is someone who has thier ear to the street…
