Do Not Work For JYP Entertainment!

JYP Cleaned Up

JYP Cleaned Up

For those of you who missed my earlier post about working for JYP Entertainment you should read it. Apparently JYP entertainment is looking for a full time Online Marketing Assistant to help spread the word about their Kpop talent such as Wonder Girls, 2PM, and other newcomers that are soon to emerge onto the Asian market.

However, as I was digging deeper into JYP I found a first hand account on what it is like to work for JYP Entertainment. This first hand account was a review about JYP Entertainment was given by a previous intern who had worked for the company in 2008.

The person did give some good points about the company:

  • One of the largest Korean Entertainment companies next to SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment.
  • The work is flexible and the environment is laid back. There are no cubicles in the office. It is an open room with 6 employee’s working right next to each other.
  • They provide lunch and dinner. The cook is amazing.

Here are the bad points about working for JYP Entertainment…

More Kpop Auditions Available!

Kpop Audition

Kpop Audition

I get daily emails from young talent who are looking to audition for JYP Entertainment or YG Entertainment. I do try to direct these people to the correct information. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that these people are doomed before they start. The Korean pop music industry is so tough to break into… you stand the same chance at winning the lottery and starting your own record label.

However, there are other Korean companies out there that accept global auditions and will probably give you a better chance at Kpop stardom. Here is the Rundown.

J Tune Entertainment: The claim to fame for J Tune Entertainment is that it has Jung Ji Hoon (Bi – Rain). This company is actively accepting auditions and is looking to make its mark on the Kpop community.

You can audition via email. I suggest you have a resume, a portfolio of your accomplishments, a headshot, and a video clip. Since it is being transmitted via email I suggest that you try to keep your attached file below 5mb.

You can audition by sending this information to audition@jtunecamp.co.kr. If they like you they will respond.

Kollaboration Toronto 2010 is well on its way!

Kollaboration Banner

I have been following Kollaboration Toronto for several years now and must say that this is a truly fun event. In fact, it was one of my first revues on Kpop-Jpop. Much has changed since then and it shows. Kollaboration Toronto is managed by several professional students with something in common. They all love what they are doing with Kollaboration.

About Kollaboration Toronto:

http://www.tdotkollaboration.org

Kollaboration Toronto is a non-profit talent show that is organized every year in order to provide a creative outlet for youths to display their leadership and skills. Since its establishment in 2006, they have had sold-out shows that have catered to audiences up to 1300 people. They have become a very well known organization within the community.

Kollaboration is an annual event and movement that was created by a small group of young Korean Americans. It began 8 years ago in the Korean-American community of Los Angeles, and since then, has spread to New York, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and continues to spread to major cities all over North America. Kollaboration Toronto is put on by a group of young, professional Korean Canadian students who volunteer their time and skills in order to celebrate the vast talents that exist within their community and hopefully bring them into the mainstream.

The Aggressives (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)

From the director of Take Care of My Cat comes this exciting new film about South Korea's hyperkinetic urban youth! Jeon Jae Eun's The Aggressives centers on Soyo (Chun Jung Myung), a seemingly quiet, unassuming teenager whose ordinary humdrum life soon changes when he discovers the thrill of inline skating. His love for the sport eventually causes him to meet up with a group of skater boys that include Moggy (Kim Kang Woo), a kid whose awesome board skills immediately capture Soyo's attention. Moggy's girlfriend, Hanju (Jo Yi Jin), asks Soyo to join them and with his parents out of the picture, Soyo quickly immerses himself in this new subculture, eventually bunking with the team. His friendship with Moggy and Hanju soon takes off, and his loyalty to the team's leader Gabpa (Lee Cheon Hee) soon results in an exciting new development in the romance department.

But when Moggy is forced to shoot a commercial to score a plane ticket to the world inline skating championships, he snaps and deliberately causes an accident. Moggy's act puts the whole gang into debt, forcing the team to scramble for money to recoup the loss. A rift soon develops among the team members: Moggy stops skating, Hanju and Gapba want to leave as well, and even the once-eager Soyo starts to lose interest. Can the team pull it together or is their friendship doomed to failure?

As one of the first graduates of the Korean National University of Arts' School of Film & Multimedia, Jeong
