Do Not Work For JYP Entertainment!

JYP Cleaned Up

JYP Cleaned Up

For those of you who missed my earlier post about working for JYP Entertainment you should read it. Apparently JYP entertainment is looking for a full time Online Marketing Assistant to help spread the word about their Kpop talent such as Wonder Girls, 2PM, and other newcomers that are soon to emerge onto the Asian market.

However, as I was digging deeper into JYP I found a first hand account on what it is like to work for JYP Entertainment. This first hand account was a review about JYP Entertainment was given by a previous intern who had worked for the company in 2008.

The person did give some good points about the company:

  • One of the largest Korean Entertainment companies next to SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment.
  • The work is flexible and the environment is laid back. There are no cubicles in the office. It is an open room with 6 employee’s working right next to each other.
  • They provide lunch and dinner. The cook is amazing.

Here are the bad points about working for JYP Entertainment…

More Kpop Auditions Available!

Kpop Audition

Kpop Audition

I get daily emails from young talent who are looking to audition for JYP Entertainment or YG Entertainment. I do try to direct these people to the correct information. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that these people are doomed before they start. The Korean pop music industry is so tough to break into… you stand the same chance at winning the lottery and starting your own record label.

However, there are other Korean companies out there that accept global auditions and will probably give you a better chance at Kpop stardom. Here is the Rundown.

J Tune Entertainment: The claim to fame for J Tune Entertainment is that it has Jung Ji Hoon (Bi – Rain). This company is actively accepting auditions and is looking to make its mark on the Kpop community.

You can audition via email. I suggest you have a resume, a portfolio of your accomplishments, a headshot, and a video clip. Since it is being transmitted via email I suggest that you try to keep your attached file below 5mb.

You can audition by sending this information to audition@jtunecamp.co.kr. If they like you they will respond.

Kollaboration Toronto 2010 is well on its way!

Kollaboration Banner

I have been following Kollaboration Toronto for several years now and must say that this is a truly fun event. In fact, it was one of my first revues on Kpop-Jpop. Much has changed since then and it shows. Kollaboration Toronto is managed by several professional students with something in common. They all love what they are doing with Kollaboration.

About Kollaboration Toronto:

http://www.tdotkollaboration.org

Kollaboration Toronto is a non-profit talent show that is organized every year in order to provide a creative outlet for youths to display their leadership and skills. Since its establishment in 2006, they have had sold-out shows that have catered to audiences up to 1300 people. They have become a very well known organization within the community.

Kollaboration is an annual event and movement that was created by a small group of young Korean Americans. It began 8 years ago in the Korean-American community of Los Angeles, and since then, has spread to New York, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and continues to spread to major cities all over North America. Kollaboration Toronto is put on by a group of young, professional Korean Canadian students who volunteer their time and skills in order to celebrate the vast talents that exist within their community and hopefully bring them into the mainstream.

Toronto Kollaboration is This Weekend!

Tdot Kollaboration is here this weekend. This show is the highlite of the young Canadian Asian community. I have received a press release from Tdot Kollaboration’s Director of Public Relations. This is the 4th press release for the event and gives us some great information on the show.

Some of the content from the press release can be seen below.

Kollaboration has been the forerunner of live Asian American and Asian Canadian entertainment for a decade and counting. Joined by ten different cities now, it is the largest Asian talent show in all of North America – and Toronto will be hosting its own show for the 5th year!

Expect an audience of 1 300 raising the roof as the city’s underground yet brilliant artists shine on stage. This year, Kollaboration Toronto is striving to promote its theme of the: “RAW, UNCUT and EXPOSED.”

The performers will unleash their RAW talent, showcasing originality, fluidness and potential. Behind the scenes, the display of teamwork will be UNCUT and presented to the rest of the community. Most importantly, Kollaboration Toronto hopes to have its ideals and artists EXPOSED – proving that there is an outlet for Asian Canadians to express their creativity, bringing their art to the limelight and ultimately to the rest of the world.

We are pleased to announce Kollaboration Toronto will donate $1 from every ticket sold, to a wonderful charity organization called Habitat for Humanity.

Driving With My Wife's Lover (DVD) (Limited Edition) (Korea Version)

Driving With My Wife's Lover (DVD) (Limited Edition) (Korea Version)

Combining road film, revenge drama, and black comedy elements, Driving with My Wife's Lover is the accomplished feature-length debut from Kim Tae Sik. Kim had previously served as assistant director on Park Chul Soo's Kazoku Cinema, in addition to years of television producing and directing shorts films like 32nd Dec.: Where is Mr. President?, and his experience is evident here. Smartly shot and precisely paced, the film subtly explores human nature, behavior, and emotions through frank dialogue, assured direction, and remarkable storytelling. Driving with My Wife's Lover also finds a perfect pitch in the pairing of character actors Park Kwang Jung and Jeong Bo Sik for the leading roles. The film premiered at the 11th Pusan Film Festival, and has since been invited to numerous festivals including Sundance, Rotterdam, and Berlin.

Tae Han (Park Kwang Jung) is a modest man who runs a small stamp shop in the seaside town of Nakasan. When he discovers that his wife is having an affair with a taxi driver, he sets out bitterly for revenge. Tae Han goes all the way to Seoul to hail the cab of his wife's lover Joong Sik (Jeong Bo Sik). On the long ride back, the two encounter various detouring situations that complicate the trip, but unexpectedly help them to forge an unlikely bond. As Tae Han learns more and more about Joong Sik through animated conversations and minor adventures, his anger and vengeful plan begin to slip away.
